James E. Moore (Founder / Chairman)

Jim is an entrepreneur with over 35 years of experience in the finance and investment industries, including both the public and private capital markets. He has acted as a founder, investor and manager of numerous companies in diverse industries, and has been involved with companies in virtually all stages of development and growth. Jim’s background and experience include involvement at the senior level in corporate finance, investment banking, and private equity/venture capital investing - including leveraged buyouts. He has also been involved at the senior level in building money management/investment advisory companies from an early stage to multi-billion dollars of assets under management/advisory, and then achieving liquidity with these companies.

Jim is currently Chairman of the Chicago Music Library, LLC (www.chicagomusiclibrary.com), a music production and publishing company primarily for film and television. Founded in 2008, Chicago Music Library has grown to be a highly-regarded music library in the industry. It holds approximately 30,000 tracks of music across virtually all genres of music.

Additionally, Jim is Chairman of Moore Energy LLC, an oil and gas exploration and development company. This company has a project in the Paradox Basin in the State of Utah, a prolific oil and gas producing basin.

Jim resides in southern California. He holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a licensed California Real Estate Broker. He received his MBA degree from the University of Chicago and a BA degree from Claremont McKenna College. He also attended Franklin University Switzerland, an international university attended by students from throughout the world; and has lived in Switzerland, Brazil and Italy. For many years, Jim was a member of the Board of Trustees and the Investment Committees of both Claremont McKenna College and Franklin University Switzerland, and is a recipient of the Distinguished/Outstanding Service Awards from each institution. 

Jim’s interests include wine collecting and martial arts. He is an inductee into both the U.S.A. Martial Arts Hall of Fame and the Masters Hall of Fame, and a recipient of the Platinum Achievement Award from each organization.

 

THOMAS W. CARLTON

Tom recently retired from CF Industries Holdings, Inc., an NYSE-traded manufacturer and distributor of agricultural products, where he spent most of his over 40 year career.

Tom has been involved in all aspects of corporate financial planning and is an expert in strategic planning, business development, market forecasting, and financial planning. On the finance side, he has been involved in contract negotiations, project financings, acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and a successful $1 billion initial public offering (IPO) of CF Industries. On the business side, he has worked with management, engineers and consultants, vendors and customers to develop and implement major capital projects in manufacturing and distribution.

He resides in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. His business experience and strong background in science and technology bring tremendous capabilities to Moore Global’s efforts for its clients. Tom received an MS degree from DePaul University in Computer Science with an emphasis in Artificial Intelligence, and a BA degree from Kalamazoo College in Physics. He is also a published author of several successful books on computer applications. Tom and Jim Moore first met at the University of Chicago where they both received their MBA degrees, and have been close life-long friends ever since.

Tom’s interests include traveling, concerts and plays, and spirited discussions over good wine.

GAIL A. GUERIN

Gail has been involved in brand management, strategic positioning, fundraising and investor relations for organizations in the financial services industry for the past 30+ years.

She founded an independent marketing consulting firm in 2004, to capitalize on her years of experience positioning and marketing private equity strategies globally. Previously, Gail was a Senior Partner and Director of Marketing & Investor Relations at Baring Private Equity Partners, London, where she supported the global private equity platform comprised of teams in Asia, India, Russia, Latin America and Europe. Before joining Baring, Gail was Director of Marketing and Fundraising at Hamilton Lane and a Vice President in the Fixed Income group at Morgan Stanley & Company in New York.

Gail received a BS in Educational Psychology and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin where she was a Teacher’s Assistant in the Statistics Department. Gail is a frequent speaker at investment industry conferences across the globe where she also manages training workshops in the area of fund formation and marketing strategy. Gail and Jim Moore met over twenty years ago when they were both senior members of a California-based asset management firm, and have remained good friends and confidants ever since.

Gail’s interests include travel, the arts and the successes of her daughter, Alexandra.

 

BEN ZIJLSTRA

Ben is an entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in the finance and investment industries on an international scale. He is currently acting as an independent contractor, particularly in the areas of asset management, real estate consulting and real estate investments.

He has been involved with companies at senior levels in various industries, and in virtually all stages of development and growth. In particular, he has started and developed real estate investment funds with multi-billion dollars of assets under management, one of which was listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. More than 40 real estate funds were initiated with his involvement and placed in the Dutch, German and Austrian markets. His real estate funds have held assets in the Netherlands, Canada, Poland, and the United States.

Ben was raised in the northern part of the Netherlands and currently resides in that country. His extensive network, especially in Europe, adds significant depth and breadth to Moore Global’s efforts. He received his MBA degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona, USA; and his BA degree from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, USA – where he was a soccer player. Ben is fluent in Dutch and English, and has a good command of German.

Ben’s interests include travel, golf and reading.

 

Kaitlin Q. Moore (Vice President)

Kaitlin recently graduated Cum Laude from the prestigious Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University. She was a Chancellor Scholar at Dodge where she majored in film production (with an emphasis in directing), and double-minored in broadcast journalism and business. As part of her senior thesis, Kaitlin co-wrote and directed a short film, “Off With Your Head,” the origin story of Alice in Wonderland’s Queen of Hearts and her descent into madness. Her film is being entered into film competitions.

Kaitlin is currently performing social media marketing consulting for a successful online jewelry company, Dogeared, Inc. She is also working as a Production Assistant for the TV series, “The Voice.” Additionally, she is teaching indoor cycling (“spinning” or “spin”) classes.

Kaitlin is part owner of Chicago Music Library, LLC described above under James E. Moore, its Chairman. As part of the Chicago Music Library, and on behalf of it, she introduced and presented the award for the “Best Original Song” at the 2015 Asian World Film Festival. 

While attending Chapman University, Kaitlin produced her own radio show on Chapman Radio, completed an internship with [Ryan] Seacrest Studios, and completed an internship with The Mission Entertainment. She also completed the Semester at Sea (“SAS”) study-abroad program in which she circled most of the globe - followed by touring Europe and attending Franklin University Switzerland before returning to Chapman. Kaitlin is a member and alum of Kappa Alpha Theta, an international sorority.

Prior to attending Chapman University, Kaitlin attended Marymount High School where she graduated Cum Laude and was a student filmmaker and actor. Additionally, she was a substitute and assistant dance teacher at this high school.
